Administration
Administrative functions performed include research, planning, strategic development and coordination of operational activities. I have developed numerous presentation materials, project templates, and resource tools. In this capacity, data entry, spreadsheet, database maintenance are skills I used and continue to refine as technology advances. Technology is essential to business operations. In addition to proficiency in MS Office Suite, I am a SharePoint “power-user”, which allows me to contribute to efficient internal communications. Web-design and maintenance are also within my skills set. Creating and email publications and other web marking tools are within my scope of abilities, designing and publishing over 36 newsletter publications for Denver City Council District 8. MS Xcel is a tool I regularly use to create, maintain, and track progress on various professional and personal projects. In my professional capacity I use Xcel to create work products such as project timelines, budget forecasts, and Gantt charts.
Event Planning
Event planning skills are used in my professional and personal lives. Denver City Council District 8 holds two bi-annual events. The Hiawatha Davis Holiday Senior luncheon has hosted seniors in the community for over 30 years. 500 seniors attend the event. The second larger event hosts over 3,000 constituents providing free ice cream and crafts. For these events I coordinated booking talent and bands, selected food and menu, contracted with venues, scheduled programs, facilitated entertainment, designed and edited promotional and event materials. Publicized the events to 55,000 constituency population. I selected and managed volunteers and staff for all event related activities. Lastly, my responsibilities included coordinating event logistics, including registration, VIP recognitions and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support and pre- and post-event evaluations.
Communications
Accuracy, timeliness, and consistency are the fundamentals to my approach to communication and public relations. Communication and public relations are intertwined without accurate communications the other will public relations will fail due to lack of trust. Trust is also an important component of the delivery of correct information, as the message recipient must be able to place reliance on the information disseminated to protect and encourage long-term business relationships. Transparency, accuracy, timeliness and consistency can also increase responsiveness from other individuals and organizations, but also supports reciprocity. With these communication guiding principles, I regularly utilize tactics that quickly captures the recipient’s attentions, concisely message important details and provide a framework for a communication plan. For example, rather than inundate people’s inbox with multiple emails pertaining to the same subject, I package all materials and crucial information and deadlines.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility is operating business in a way that enhances public welfare, examples including green initiatives, and volunteerism. The complexities and dynamism of the economy dictates that leaders are innovative to create sustainable approaches to current and future socio-economic issues. I have written an inspired Corporate Social Responsibility initiative designed to increase consumer education among underserved demographics. The premise of the initiative is to teach wealth building strategies and provide practical instruction on daily activities that impact your financial health. In addition to consumer education, I have authored an initiative that targets innovation is the areas of manufacturing and re-instituting self-sufficiency as a valuable social norm.
